Joint Environmental Test Initiative (JETI)

The JETI development was a collaborative effort between APL and the US Navy (SPAWAR, NRaD, and NFESC) to develop a mobile low-frequency broadband active acoustic projector. The JETI hardware includes a handling/deployment system, a gas compensation system, a 1300 m optical/electrical/gas/mechanical umbilical, and a control van. The control van houses the high-power generators and equipment to monitor, process and display acoustic and non-acoustic data for analysis. The JETI system was successfully used in the Alternate Source Test (AST). Dr. Mercer plans to operate and maintain the JETI system as a resource for the low-frequency acoustic research community. Funding was provided by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
