Research opportunities are essential for undergraduate engineering and science students. To confirm and support these students, the Laboratory provides funds for one UW undergraduate to participate in a Laboratory research project under the supervision of an APL-UW staff member. The Laboratory provides salary support during the year of study and a one-time book allowance of $500.
Applications for the Hardisty Undergraduate Scholarship are accepted during fall quarter. Contact Bob Odom, Assistant Director for Education and Development.

A generous gift from The Boeing Company provides funds to support one APL-UW/Boeing Scholar each year. The Scholarship selection process and award is equivalent to the Hardisty Scholar Program.

2004 - Rachel Sparks, Bioengineering
The Boeing Company has also provided funds to support several participants in the Boeing Mentoring Program for Women and Under-represented Minorities each year. To apply for the Mentoring Program, students must submit a resume, transcript, and statement of research interest to Bob Odom or Ellen Lettvin, Assistant Directors for Education and Development. The last item can be independent of, or based upon, a survey of research activities at the Laboratory. Submitted applications will be reviewed by researchers interested in supervising student research. Selection is based upon how closely an applicant's interest match available research opportunities and academic qualifications.
