Object-oriented Software Development, Image Processing, Artifical Neural Network Design

Peter Brodsky develops simulation, modeling, and analysis software for underwater research. Specific projects include simulation of underwater sound, estimation of ocean bottom characteristics, and detection of underwater objects from noisy sources. These require expertise in signal processing, ocean acoustic propagation, and multi-dimensional image processing. His interests range from automatic target recognition, through object-oriented software development, to space flight and navigation.
A former Merchant Marine officer, Mr. Brodsky has extensive sea-going experience, including a number of naval oceanographic research voyages. Mr. Brodsky joined the Laboratory's Environmental and Information Systems Department in 1999.
