Signal Processing, Control Systems, Electronic Design

Dr. Kolve's expertise is in digital signal processing, control systems, and electronic circuit design. He designed a high-frequency sonar system that required the application of digital filters, fast Fourier transforms, and high-speed computing. He has designed and analyzed autopilots for underwater vehicles, and he has developed a wide range of analog and digital circuits for sonar systems.

Skip Kolve has served as lead engineer and as technical project manager on a variety of projects at APL-UW, including the AEMT, a high-frequency side-scan sonar, and the Target Technology Exploratory Development Program. His work includes analyzing the performance of GPS hardware for use in FORACS applications. In his most recent work, he served as the lead engineer on the IUSS project.
