Projects

Arctic Under-Ice Mapping and Obstacle Avoidance Sonar System

More Info

1 Jun 2012

This ONR Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) project is developing a low-powered multi-beam sonar system for under-ice mapping and obstacle avoidance for an unmanned vehicle. Because power and size are primary operational limitations, the integrated sonar system will serve multiple roles including mapping, ice characterization, and obstacle avoidance, as well as providing inputs for navigation and vehicle control, therefore minimizing the number of onboard sensors.
