DRI Update: 28 January 2000

The returns are in, and the next DRI workshop will be held at meeting facilities at the Bangor Naval Base west of Seattle on April 19-20 (Wednesday-Thursday).

To arrange for entry onto the base, I simply need to supply a list of the names of those attending (sufficient even for foreign nationals). While most have already indicated that the workshop dates would be acceptable with respect to other conflicts, I would like to have confirmation of your intention to attend, in order to prepare a list of attendees for the base. If you are uncertain at this point, I would still prefer to get your name now and just indicate that there is doubt.

I will be investigating tour options on the base before setting up a tour and intend to keep it relatively short (1-2 hrs).

I have arranged for a block of rooms at the WestCoast Silverdale Hotel in Silverdale, and I encourage all attendees (including those from the Seattle area) to stay there. A group dinner will be arranged at the hotel for the night of April 19th. The room rate for our group at the hotel will be $61/ night plus tax (this is the government rate). When making your reservation mention that you are with the DRI workshop group. Reservations can be made using 800-544-9799, but I am advised that you should not try to make reservations before next Tuesday to allow time for the computer to be brought up to date on our group rate. The hotel is located on the water and has a glass enclosed pool and spa with a view over the water. The hotel website at http://www.westcoasthotels.com/silverdale/ has more information on the hotel and also a map showing Silverdale in relation to Seattle. I will later be sending explicit instructions and driving times for getting to the hotel in Silverdale and from there to Bangor and the meeting site. It will be most convenient to travel from the airport by car.

I will be in touch with SAX99 participants later about presentations at the workshop. A registration fee will be used to cover meals at the workshop and the group dinner.

Hope to see you there.
