Ultrasound-based Washington Molecular Imaging and Therapy Center

More About this Research:

uWAMIT

Molecular imaging and therapy center to develop, commercialize technologies
Imaging techniques can help doctors determine when treatment is needed, which treatment is likely to be most effective, and when the risks of treatment outweigh the benefits.

Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound — CIMU.

Our center is to use ultrasound as the main modality for imaging and treating diseases in the early stages.

What imaging allows us to do is look inside the body non-invasively and try to make diagnoses about disease. Molecular imaging is trying to go to the next stage, which is to see not only what anatomically is going on, but the molecules that drive biological processes.

The Washington Life Sciences Discovery Fund is investing $5 million in UWAMIT to create new science, new jobs, and commercial spinoffs.

We want to generate 200 jobs over the next five years using ultrasound to image and treat diseases in their early stages. We’re essentially going to be THE place for leaders in ultrasound molecular engineering.
