APL-UW has numerous, existing, standard contract and grant funding vehicles that make it very easy for research sponsors to place funds at the Laboratory. These funding vehicles allow a wide range of research, design and development, and test and evaluation work to be accomplished including but not limited to the following areas:
- Experimental physical oceanography
- Acoustic propagation
- Acoustic and related systems
- High-frequency acoustic R&D and modeling
- Underwater instrumentation and equipment
- Simulations and signal, image, and information processing
- Marine corrosion
- Satellite remote sensing
- Medical ultrasound, sonochemistry, and lithotripsy
